2007 Christmas Letter

A Year of Wonderful Opportunities

In January, Jason brought Joe back to his new business base of operations in Ohio for a visit and to take in the International Auto Show in Detroit.   To see a gallery of great car pix from that trip, click here.   They also drove thru the tunnel under the Detroit river to Windsor, Canada for lunch, toured the Ford Motor Company Dearborn factory, and then drove up to Grand Rapids for an meeting with Dickinson Press, a manufacturer of high-quality Bibles.   We are planning to have them make the next edition of the AV7 Bible early in 2008. View a preview here: InvitationBible.com.   It was a great father and son time together.

In February, we flew to Hawaii for a fabulous vacation.   To view a gallery of photos from that trip, click here.

In April, we flew to Nashville, Tennessee where we met Wes and Tracie and saw some of the Music City sights including the Country Music Hall of Fame.   From there, we drove down to their beautiful new home in Huntsville, Alabama.   Enjoyed a great week with them and then took off on a road trip through the South.   Driving up the Atlantic Coast was great fun.   One of the highlights was a side-trip up to Andy Griffith's home town, Mount Airy, North Carolina with lunch at Deputy Barney Fife's Cafe and a stop at Floyd's Barber Shop.   Click here to view photos.

In May, Greg and Cathy brought our little bundle of fun Madi to grandpa and grandma's house for a visit.   What a great time we had.   Loved every second ... and what great parents they both are.   Click here to view photos.

In July, we went to Broken Bow, Nebraska for Joe's 50th class reunion.   Joe published a reunion book with bios for 80 of our 90 classmates.   To view a copy of the reunion book and lots of photos, click here.   On our return trip through Denver, Colorado we met up with cousin Mary and Jim Hunt and their son and daughter-in-law Rob and Sandy.

In August, Tracie came home for a two week visit and we really enjoyed every minute with her.   She had just started a new consulting business in computer forensics and security assurance.

In September, Joe went back to Washington to join the big surprise party that Jason put together for his brother's 40th birthday.   Jason really did put together a super surprise party with a suite for 24 at Safeco Field.   Mariners seriously trailed most of the game and then pulled out a big win in the last inning to make it a Happy Birthday for Greg!

In October, one of Tracie's first assignments was to go deep down into the top-secret, ultra-secure, miles-under-the-mountain NORAD Command Center in Colorado.   So, after she finished, she was able to make her return trip through Arizona for a quick weekend visit.

In November, Joe's sister Judy came to celebrate Joe's birthday and post Thanksgiving.   We had a delightful time with her. Some of the highlights were, the Phoenix Symphony Pop's Christmas concert and the Organ Stop Pizza parlor where they have the biggest Wurlitzer pipe organ in the world.

November also marked the completion and launch of Joe's newest book, Rejoice! Clean Humor ... a compilation of the best and funniest stories, anecdotes, quips, one-liners, funny photos, and hilarious quotes collected over the past 35 years.   See excerpts at www.BestCleanFun.com.

December will bring at least one more highlight as Wes and Tracie will be coming home for Christmas.   We are so thankful for every opportunity we have to spend time with our children.   We look forward to the opportunity to have all of them home with us in Arizona for Christmas next year.

And speaking of opportunities, 2008 will mark the 35th year that Joe's consulting firm, Communication Architects, has been in business and has continued to enjoy many wonderful business opportunities.   While some of the same clients have been in the fold for more than 25 years, we are now excited to be expanding the publishing "division" and have four more books nearly ready to publish.

Patti says that Joe has "marked" all of our children with the same inclination to pursue their own businesses.   Greg is now in his 14th year owning and managing his own business www.DJSeattle.com.   Jason's new marketing and promotion business www.FixAim.com is now in its second year and expanding.   And this past year, Tracie started her own business and is already so busy that she doesn't even have time to put the finishing touches on her website which will soon be online at www.EmeritusSolutions.com

And finally, to cap off a wonderful 2007, we have one more item of very good news to report.   On December 7, 2007, Patti accepted a new position with Merrill Lynch that promises to be a fantastic new opportunity.

May your life be blessed with bountiful opportunities.
